The Glowdown
Your most common spray tan questions, answered — everything you need to know before, during, and after your glow.
Glow Confidence
Let’s clear up the most common worries about spray tans so you can feel completely comfortable booking your glow.
Will I look orange?
No. I custom blend each tan for your skin tone, so your color looks natural, never orange.
Are spray tans safe?
Yes. I use professional solutions with DHA, a sugar that reacts with the top layer of your skin to create a tan. When applied correctly, spray tans are a safe way to get color without UV damage.
Do spray tans protect me from the sun?
No. You’ll still need sunscreen if you’re outside. I recommend a lotion-based mineral sunscreen for the best results.
Can men book a spray tan?
Yes, spray tans are for everyone. I adjust the solution for every skin type and tone.
Before You Glow
Everything you need to know before your appointment — from booking timing to prep tips — so your tan goes on smooth and lasts beautifully.
When should I book before an event?
Book your tan 1-2 days before your event. That way, your color has time to fully develop and look its best.
Do you offer mobile tans?
Yes! I can bring everything to you. Mobile tans are perfect for groups, bridal parties, or simply the comfort of your own home.
What should I wear during my tan?
Whatever you feel comfortable in — swimsuit, underwear, or nothing at all. Many clients choose to go without to avoid tan lines, but it’s always up to you.
Can you blend tan lines?
Yes, spray tans can soften tan lines and make them less noticeable. Results depend on how deep the lines are, but let me know in advance and I’ll adjust your tan to help.
How to prepare for you tan:
Exfoliate with a mitt 24–48 hours before
Shave, wax, or finish salon/spa treatments at least 24 hours before
Arrive free of lotion, deodorant, makeup, or oils (rinse with a gentle gel body wash like Native or Cetaphil at least 4 hours before)
Avoid Dove, Olay, or bar soaps
Wear loose, dark clothing and sandals
During Your Glow
Here’s what to expect at your appointment, including how long it takes and the options you can choose from.
How long does an appointment take?
In-studio appointments usually take about 30 minutes, including setup and drying time. For mobile appointments, plan on about 45–60 minutes since I bring everything to you and set up a comfortable space in your home.
What’s the difference between a rapid and gradual tan?
The only difference is rinse time:
Rapid tan: rinse in 2-6 hours (great if you have plans the same day).
Gradual tan: rinse in 8-12 hours (many people sleep in it overnight).
Both take 24 hours to fully develop, and both are priced the same. I’ll guide you on when to shower based on your skin and your schedule.
After You Glow
Simple care and product tips to help your tan fade evenly and keep you glowing for days to come.
